The 10% Niacinamide Standard, Decoded
Why every brand seems to launch a 10% niacinamide product — and what the percentage really means.
Niacinamide research shows benefits across a 2-10% range. At 2%, you get barrier support. At 5%, sebum modulation kicks in. At 10%, pigment regulation and pore-appearance refinement layer on. Beyond 10% the curve flattens and irritation risk climbs.
The "10%" label has become marketing shorthand for "high strength." That is mostly fine — but pair it with zinc PCA or hyaluronic acid to buffer potential dryness, and stability-test with the actual packaging because niacinamide can yellow in clear PETG over 18 months. We have the formulation library on standby.
